New Kroff Business to Offer Production Chemicals, Technology to Metals Market

Kroff Process Technologies Provides Unique, Complementary Chemical Services

PITTSBURGH — April 19, 2010 — Kroff, Inc., a respected leader in wastewater treatment chemicals, has created Kroff Process Technologies to provide proprietary production process chemicals and technologies to the primary metals industry.

Kroff Process Technologies (KPT) will assist primary metals producers in producing and finishing their products with an array of custom chemicals and cutting-edge technology aimed at optimizing plant efficiencies and reducing costs.

The new business creates a unique, complementary service to Kroff’s other businesses, particularly Kroff Chemical Company (KCC). KCC provides custom industrial and commercial water treatment chemicals and services to treat boiler water, cooling water, contact cooling water, and wastewater that are critical to metal production. With KPT, Kroff now offers a comprehensive package of treatment and production chemicals that will cost effectively enhance production while also custom designing the chemical treatment scheme for the wastewater stream following production.

“The creation of KPT was a natural progression for Kroff,” said Dave Sunderlik, Kroff’s Midwest area manager. “Our customers trust and rely on us to provide them with the custom chemicals that treat their wastewater. Now, as trusted advisers to them, we can provide them with the same attention and custom chemicals that will improve their production process. In essence, we’ve become part of the production team.

“In addition, rather than a fragmented chemical purchasing process, our customers will now enjoy the many benefits of dealing with one expert who is their single point of contact for all of their chemical needs."

Because many chemicals used in the metals production process end up in a wastewater stream, having one company that is expert in both types of chemistries provides cost efficiencies and process improvements for those producers, as well as eliminates the disconnect that often occurs when separate representatives from the same company service one producer.

“Kroff has always provided excellent customer service, highly trained and experienced consultants, state-of-the-art technology, and specialty chemicals, and we’ll continue to do that through our newest venture,” said Sunderlik. “We’re confident in our people and our processes, and we’re confident in Kroff Process Technologies.”
