Kroff, Inc. Co-Founder Fred Potthoff Honored as Distinguished Alumnus by Shippensburg University

Institution's Highest Honor Recognizes Outstanding Career Achievements

PITTSBURGH, July 8, 2010 – Kroff, Inc., one of the fastest-growing water treatment companies in the United States, is pleased to announce that company co-founder Fred Potthoff is a recipient of the 2010 Jesse S. Heiges Distinguished Alumnus Award from Shippensburg University. The award is the university's highest honor, recognizing distinguished and outstanding achievements in the recipients' field that benefit the community and society.

"I am truly humbled and honored to receive Shippensburg University's most distinguished alumni award," Potthoff said. "The recognition is tribute to what my colleagues and I have created at Kroff, Inc. during the past two decades."

Potthoff co-founded Kroff, Inc. along with his partner, Keith Kronk, building the organization based on unmatched client service and a commitment to hiring talented and experienced salespeople. Under their dual leadership, Kroff has grown at a remarkable rate of 24 percent annually since 1990. For more than two decades, the company has provided custom-blended specialty chemicals and unique services that help companies lower the cost of operations. And now, Kroff Inc.'s services go beyond water treatment to include materials reprocessing, outsourcing of water treatment services, and metals production and fabrication through Kroff Materials Reprocessing Inc., Kroff Facilities Services Inc., and Kroff Process Technologies Inc.

Potthoff was the first two-time chair of the International Water Conference, the oldest and most prestigious water treatment conference in the world, and served on its executive board for 10 years. He was a board member for the Association of Water Technologies and holds memberships in the Association for Iron and Steel Technology, Building Owners and Managers Association, International District Energy Association, and the Association of Water Technologies. He is also a member of the Shippensburg University John L. Grove College of Business Advisory Board.

A 1970 graduate of Shippensburg University, Potthoff earned a bachelor's degree in business education before serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve for six years. Other recipients of the Heiges award this year were: Dr. Jack S. Brenizer Jr., Sonia Haynes, and Jean Marie Scott. The award was established in 1959 through gifts from Ralph and Jesse G. Heiges to honor their father, Shippensburg's first dean of instruction from 1901 to 1934.
